Pioneer Holiday Party

Partners will gather at the visitor center on November 8, 2018
at 2:00 p.m. to trim the tree.

Each year we decorate a Christmas tree with homemade ornaments.

We also cut out 6 pointed stars shaped snowflakes to decorate the windows.

The holiday season was celebrated by pioneers but we find very little written about just how their homes were decorated in the early 1800's and especially if there was a Christmas tree. It is thought that they brought pine limbs into the house but we do know that if there were trees they would be very worried about fires in the cabin...

so each year the cabin lifestyle is celebrated in the visitor's center with a tree with no lights of any kind, and primarily homemade ornaments.
